Xavier Blount, the leading scorer for the MSU basketball team so far this season was hurt in a fight in the early morning hours on Sunday and may be out for the season. Police reports say that after a disappointing overtime loss for the basketball team Saturday night, Blount got into an argument with two other MSU athletes behind the Bar 9 about 1:15am Sunday morning. The argument escalated into a fight and Blount ended up at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital with facial injuries and a dislocated shoulder.

The other two athletes are football player Roger Trammell, age 21, who is charged with assault of a minor. Trammell suffered injuries to his hands. The other athlete was sprinter Chris Wilson, who just won a 50 yard sprint race Saturday night. He is charged with unlawful use of a license and disorderly conduct. Blount is charged with disorderly conduct and minor in possession of alcohol.

KBZK/KXLF Sports Director Ted Dawson reports that Blount is one of head coach Brad Huse's prime recruits this season, and is averaging nearly 13 points a game.

"I can tell you this kind of behavior, it's unfortunate that someone would choose to behave this way, and it will be dealt with very severely. We just don't tolerate this kind of behavior." Said MSU News Service Director, Tracy Ellig. Ellig tells Montana's News Station that a university committee will investigate the incident and will decide how to apply the student code of conduct to those involved.
