Two California men are now in custody, accused of picking up a Flathead Valley girl and triggering a nationwide Amber Alert.

Edgard Le, 27, and Dennis Nelson, 37, are facing custodial interference charges in Flathead County, according to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry.

Officials believe 12-year-old Jasmine Walker of Evergreen developed an online friendship with Le and that the two men drove to Montana on Monday to pick her up.

A nation-wide Amber Alert was issued just after noon on Tuesday.

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports that they passed through Las Vegas on I-15, and police stopped and arrested the men at around 5 p.m. about 30 miles into California.

Walker was said to be OK; both men were taken into custody.

Sheriff Curry says he's happy this led to a positive outcome.

He said, "These cases don't always end well and I think we're all aware of horror stories of other cases from other countries where they've ended poorly. We were on top of this. We worked very well with the FBI and quite a few other local law enforcement agencies between here and California, so we're pleased that we were able to bring this to the conclusion that we were, get the little girl back."

Curry says the girl's father was going to fly down and pick her up on Wednesday, and authorities plan to interview her when she returns to the Flathead.
